Your Skins Starting QB Against the Eagles....... WHO CARES!?!?

Does it really matter who starts at Qb for the skins this week? Or for the remainder of the season? I mean, seriously. there are plenty of games left in which the Skins can turn this mess around and finish with a winning record... but does anyone out there think this will happen? The way I see it, even if JC is starting, with that mess of an O-line in front of him, it will merely be a matter of time before he's hurt and in comes Todd Collins.
The more important story is Jim Zorn is toast, whether he deserves to be or not, and the main guy that should be going is the teams personnel head, Vinny Cerrato.
Thank god for Caps hockey!

WOW... The Skins are a Mess!

Its been awhile, sorry everyone for the delay, but my god some shits gone down in the last few months. Lets start at the top. The Redskins are a mess. Its not like any of us didnt see this coming. I mean, yeah we love to be the "offseason champs" every season, Haynesworth and Hall - Great additions, but seeing how our average at best QB of the future Jason Campbell was sitting on his ass most of last season play after play, dont you think they should've perhaps addressed the O-Line? Samuels - gone now for possibly the season/career, and once again injured Randy Thomas on the shelf, leaves Rabach and Dockery as the only starters left? Santana Moss, a great number 2 receiver, Randle El, a great number 3 option (see what I'm gettin at here? -- there's no legit number 1!!). Portis - past his prime, and Cooley - the offense's probably best overall option on offense - is being forced to stay in and block because there's no O-line...

Is all of this Zorn's fault? Probably not - all the recent draft picks are busts (as par usual in DC), and the team did nothing (outside of bringing back Derrick Dockery) to correct this offense. Zorn's unbridled honesty in post-loss press conferences, doesnt help his situation when he's explaining challenges, play calling, and the F-ing reasons he gives that the Skins seem to use up all of their time outs before the 4th quarter even starts! Greg Blache - Defensive coordinator has boycotted the media. (I mean the defense is the best part of this team - but this boycott is another part of the 3-ring circus in DC).

Ok - so whose at blame for this complete and utter mess? A lot of people say owner Dan Snyder... but how can you blame the guy that pays for all of the players to come in, with no football knowledge other than the fact he's owner and a lifelong skins fan. How bout blame the guy who's sole job is to manage the teams personnel.. Vinny Cerrato. What has this guy done right since being here. I mean, when Gibbs was here, the Skins took somewhat of a step back from lavish offseason spending, and looked more for solid character guys. Dan's always going to be aggressive in his pursuit of high profile free agents that fit the teams current needs, but the draft has been atrocious, and failure to address the teams obvious weaknesses this past offseason has to put the blame directly on Cerrato's head. Zorn has been a victim of circumstance... He was hired to be O-Coordinator (with no prior experience at play calling outside of college), and they decided to make him head coach. He's probably in way over his head, but its definitely not completely his fault. Personnel is the obvious first flaw, and secondly new coaching is needed at least to help right the ship until better personnel can be brought in.

Should we root for the Skins to continue to lose to winless teams each week so that the wrecking ball comes harder and faster? Either way, its a bad bad bad bad time to be a Skins fan. Break out the paper bags!

Orioles Pitching = The Cure for your Shitty Average

Not hitting the ball very well? Seems that everything you do hit is right at someone? Introducing the cure to all of your blues. Try hitting off of "Terrible Orioles Pitchers", by Blammo. Look O's fans, outside of Koji, and Guthrie until recently, O's pitching has been horrendous. When will Radhames Liz stop getting a chance? And Brian Bass? His season pretty much went down the shitter on his first outing when he threw a simple comebacker about 8 feet over Greg Zauns head allowing more runs to score. Believe me, I know the O's plan, and I see the light at the end of the tunnel with all the stud arms down on the farm. These guys can plain hit, but man they give up some runs. I guess it could be worse... they could be the Nats.

2009 Schedule released

WOw .. has it really been almost a month since my last post? I mean its honestly been that time of year - so much shit goin on - my heads been spinnin (March Madness, NHL/NBA Playoffs, MLB season is underway)... not to mention, I've been playin the shit out of MLB the Show on PS3... (its sick!)... Ok... now onto some important business..

On Tuesday night the NFL released the schedule for the upcoming season. NFL Network and ESPN had schedule release specials... (Personally I feel its a little overkill, but I understand the show is for mostly the fucktards out there that have yet to hear about this thing called THE INTERNET - its much easier to check your teams schedule that way, than to waste an hour of your valuable time)... ANYWHO.. I felt this would be a good time to lay out our predictions for the SKins this year, now that the schedule has been released.... HERE WE GO!

Week 1 AT NYGIANTS: At least this time its not on Thursday night on prime time, in front of the whole fucking country, and at least this time there will be NO Plexi-glass burress burnin up the skins secondary. Skins win a squeaker... (record 1-0)

Week 2 at home vs the RAMS: Wow we blew this game big time last year... team was winless coming into Washington and we handed one over to them. Skins usually win the home openers and this one will be a bit of a revenge game.. (record 2-0)

Week 3 at LIONS: We get to play the Lions again?!?! Nuff said (record 3-0) (thank you NFL Schedule gods)

Week 4 vs Bucs: Normally I'd say this is going to be a physical, tough game, but didnt the Bucs, like release everybody including their coach? (record 4-0)

Week 5 at Panthers: This is the part of the year where the Skins get there first wakup call. I kind've remember last year in preseason when the Panthers pretty much stomped the skins like 28-0 in the first half of a game where the starters were playing much of the game, and Campbell was on his back fumbling multiple times, gasping for air after a monstrous sack (record 4-1)

Week 6 vs Chiefs: See also week 2 vs Lions (record 5-1)

Week 7 vs Eagles *Monday night on ESPN: God I hate Philly. Skins beat 'em both times last year. This is the last game before the bye week. I'd love to say we'd win this one, but havin a feeling this is going to be a tough one. (record 5-2)

Week 8 bye week: week off - drop it likes it hot

Week 9 AT Falcons: Normally I'd say this is going to be a tough game as well, but following the bye week ya gotta go with the Skins. (record 6-2)

Week 10 vs Broncos: No Jay Cutler - No defense - Rookie Head Coach - Home game - West coast teams lost pretty much every game last year when playing a game at 1pm on the East Coast (record 7-2)

Week 11 AT Cowboys: I fucking hate Dallas - even with TO gone - still I hate them. We always usually split (although, I'd like to take this opportunity to able to replay Haynesworth squishing Romo on Jerry's brand new 50 yd long big screen). (record 7-3)

Week 12 AT Eagles: I have them beating us at home, so we win this one in Philly (record 8-3)

Week 13 vs Saints: Somehow we beat this team at home last year when it was warm - assuming this one will be a cold one in December. Cant see us winning both. (record 8-4)

Week 14 AT Raiders: You ask HOW could we LOSE this game? My thoughts exactly (we lost to San Fran AT san fran last year). (record 8-5)

Week 15 vs Giants *MONDAY night ESPN: This one is getting close to playoff time. (See also last years choking 2nd half collapse). (record 8-6)

Week 16 vs Cowboys * SUNDAY night NBC: Look, we split every year (almost) (record 9-6)

Week 17 AT Chargers: Obviously this is a long way away. Zornstar trying to save his job with a win and Skins in the playoffs vs (ex-skins coach) Norv most likely trying to save his job with the bolts. Isnt Tomlinson usually hurt by now? (record 9-7)

Hey, sometimes 9-7 gets us into the playoffs. Sometimes it gets us our head coach fired, millions thrown at more free agents during the offseason, and 3 more wide receivers and a punter drafted in the offseason.

Yeah, I'm a Homer but I'm also a realist. Is Anquan Boldin still available?

A-ROD Photo Shoot

A-Rod posed for a photo shoot in Details magazine - just before Selena Roberts leaked the info about him testing positive for steroids in 2003. The article goes on to say about A-Rod calling up worrying about leaking information about his favorite Madonna song.

"Last night, he let slip his favorite Madonna
song. The curious relationship between A-Rod and the pop icon makes for
delicious gossip, of course. Is Rodriguez terrified that Madonna will resent the
tongue-wagging? Or, better still, has he picked the wrong song as his favorite,
and fears that an offended Madge might march her stilettos over his back? No:
Rodriguez believes that revealing the song would lead to its being played every
time he stepped to the plate during an away game"

I'm just picturing A-Rod's first at-bat this season at Camden Yards, as "Like a Virgin", or "La Isla Bonita" is being screamed over the sound-system. Even better, is if the Orioles would show a large photo of Skeletor, er, Madonna, I meant, on the big screen during the at-bat.

"I'm strong enough, I'm good enough, and Dog-gonit, People Like me"

Breaking News from the "DUH" section ....

The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that the NBA is reconsidering their traveling rules (possibly making 2 extra steps legal?).... ummm... like its been called since like 1985... (?).

Secondly, the Kansas State Senate actually endorsed a resolution today, top stop Kansas from ever again playing a basketball team that starts with "B" in the month of march... Glad to see everyones hard-earned tax dollars being put to work!

The Nutt Brothers.. what a crazy bunch

Southeast Missouri State hired the brother of Mississippi head football coach Houston Nutt to coach their basketball team.... His name... Dickey Nutt. Not certain what Mr and Mrs Nutt were thinking when they were naming their son, but apparently, like his brother, he can coach.

NHL to Curb Fighting?

The NHL is proposing a new set of rules to curb fighting. Basically, they're voting on harsher penalties for "instigating" fights, and looking for ways to slow down retaliating from hard hits...

I say this is bullshit. I mean really, this just will mean HARDER hits, more broken necks, etc. (believe me I'm all for that too), but fighting will alleviate this. Look if someone is upset and he feels that he got "hit too hard", then yeah, he should get a penalty for starting a fight.

Probably start a lot of fights with this guy...

Bon Voyage Jason Taylor

The Skins released Jayson Taylor today, after Taylor refused to re-work his contract and add in mandatory offseason workouts at the team facilities - basically rendering last years trade for a 2nd and 6th round pick useless. Another wasted pickup for the offseason champs. Bon Voyage Jason... thanks for nothing.

Don Cherry - Just Shut Yer Mouth!

Don Cherry doesn't like the way Alex Ovechkin and co. celebrate after goals. He finds the 3 second fist pump, or jumping ontop of teammates to be too far over the top for him. When asked about Cherry's comments, Ovie replied with "He's a funny guy and and old guy. He likes old-fashioned hockey". Hey Ovie, what about "He stole my grandma's table cloth and is wearing it on TV".

Bottom line, how should Ovie react after he scores a goal. Let me tell you why you notice there, Don. Ovechkin scores.... a lot, and the only reason that YOU don't like it is because your little BITCH boy Crosby is always whining after playing the Caps ("Wahhh he hit me", "I dont like how he celebrates a goal, blah blah blah "). What a douche

The Dan Snyder Stimulus Plan

Being a die-hard Skins fan, there are certain things that you get used to year after year. One thing you can count on, is the Skins ability to pickup whomever-the-fuck-they want during the initial hours after free-agency begins. Another thing you can count on, normally, is that the insane amount of money being doled out each year is to normally players at WR or LB or DB positions, to players that are somewhat past their prime (see also Bruce Smith or Deion Sanders), and are usually over-paid to immediately lock them up. Meanwhile the O-line and D-line is made up of a patchwork of players usually consisting of undrafted rookies and other teams cast-offs (hence the Skins look absolutely GREAT on Madden, but are terrible in the trenches, causing in reality to basically suck).

Here's why this years a tad different.

I mean sure the Skins came out and dropped almost 200 mil in contracts to Painsworth, Hall and Derrick Dockery, BUT they actually filled some needs for a change. The Skins are being dubbed as the New York Yankees of Football, but being a fan, I don't give a fuck (its not my money), and at least they attempt to bring in something. Obviously they arent smart enough to draft well (see also Vinny Cerratto aka dumbass), so they have to fill their needs the hard way.

Now what do I think of the Skins chances now that they've spent millions? I still dont like them as long as Jason Campbell is quarterback, and the best receiver is Santana. Although Dockery will help immensely on the O-line, unless they draft another lineman and some of their busted draft picks from last year (Devin Thomas, Malcom Kelly, Fred Davis) can do ANYTHING, the Skins would basically fall in the middle of the pack of the NFC East. Personally I love the Haynesworth signing, at least it was a Cowboy that he face-stomped in 2006.

ND Legends to play Japans National Football team...

The AP is reporting that Lou Holtz will be coaching a team of Notre Dame "legends" against Japans National Football team this summer in the Japan Bowl on July 25th. Hmmm... Does this remind anyone of anything... how bout.. maybe Rocky IV? You know - Apollo Creed (old, retired) comes out for a nice "exhibition" match vs Drago and ends up swimming with the fishes....
The Notre Dame team is to have tryouts in April, and apparently over 100 former alum have all expressed interest in playing in the game including Tony Rice, Tim Ruddy, Rudy, and Quasimoto.

Washington gone..others to follow...

Redskins outside linebacker Marcus Washington was released yesterday - a cap casualty that would give the Skins some much needed cap room. Rumors have it that Jason Taylor and Shawn Springs could be next.. following by the annual restructuring of contracts blah blah blah, so we can sign 6 more cornerbacks and receivers and no lineman blah blah blah, on either side of the ball....

Anyway..

Washington was solid (when healthy) but has been basically non-existent over the past few years due to various injuries.. This holds definitely true on youtube - where one of the only vids of Marcus is him dancing during a commercial break (I'll still miss that "Ric Flair" walk after a sack though)....

Bad Day for Former O's

On a day, where former Orioles shortstop Miguel Tejada was charged for lying to congressional investigators regarding his purchasing of steroids, another former bird, Roberto Alomar, apparently has full-blown AIDS, and is being sued by his former girlfriend for lying to her and having unprotected sex (she by the way apparently tested negative) but she feels that he endangered her and her childrens health.
I feel pretty bad for Robbie - great Oriole - played here when the Orioles were last seen winning (anything) on a regular basis. And I also feel bad for Raffy Palmeiro, who said that he failed his steroid test due to a B12 shot that his former teammate Tejada had given him - apparently contained some roids of some kind (Raffy might've actually been telling the truth when he was wagging that finger at congress).

In other news, Floyd Rayford stubbed his toe, could not find his car-keys, and stepped in gum, also having a bad day.

HGH-Rod - Say It Ain't SO...

Yesterday, SI reported the Yankees 3rd basemen Alex Rodriguez tested positive for 2 different steroids in 2003 (the year before the league started testing in order to punish steroid users). I hate the Yankees - I'm an Orioles fan here, so duh - but I always felt that A-Rod was the "chosen one" and the best player in the game nontheless. Now, besides the Mark Teixiera debacle, this gives me another reason to hate the Yankees. Any record HGH-Rod now breaks has been tarnished - just like Bonds, and good luck getting into the Hall now - no matter what he does (ask Mark Mcguire about that). My advice to A-Rod - pass on some of them roids to his on-again/off-again (whatever) girlfriend Madonna - who like Colin Cowherd says - now has man-hands and looks like Tom Petty after a bad all night heroin bender -(maybe she won't look so much like Skeletor with a little "Cream and the Clear").

I STILL HATE Walmart

I'd like to talk about mostly sports and sports related humor on this blog but I have to share with you my thoughts on why I hate Walmart. Here we go...

I boycotted Walmart about 3 or 4 years ago - I hate it. I like the concept of having a store that has everything - I hate having to walk 4.5 miles to get a toothbrush, and a gallon of milk. Anywho - I was out yesterday trying to pick up a new LCD for the basement, and after checking a few prices (Best Buy, Circuit City - who actually have HIGHER prices now that they are going out of business - WTF?) I saw that Walmarts prices and selections were at least $100-150 cheaper. Ok so I go to Walmart - first I had to park in "Guam" - 4 miles away. I finally reach the store, and upon walking in I almost get run over by someone in an electric wheelchair. I make my way through the masses of NASCAR fans, handicap, families of kids crying (I felt like crying), and the elderly who just noticed their elderly friend Gladys, and have stopped (in the middle of the friggin isle) to have a lengthy conversation. So I finally make it back to the electronics section - decide exactly which TV I want, and then start lookin around to tell someone (because its not like they just have them on the shelf). After about 5 minutes, I realize - there isnt anyone working in electronics, except 1 person cashing out a line of about 9 people... GREAT. So I stand in line for about 20 minutes, eventually I get to the front, and I ask the woman - "Who do I ask about purchasing a TV?" - she sighed and replied "I guess that would be me.." (I could feel the 10-12 ppl in line behind me all groaning when she had to start walking with me back to show her which one - whom I wanted to flip off at that point). We made it back to the TVs and I showed her the one I wanted - just then, an apparent coworker magically shows up, overhears our conversatoin, and explains that they are sold out of basically every LCD/Plasma that I wanted. Thats just great.. (Idea..? Maybe put a sign up that says - "We are temporarily sold out of these items" so idiots - like myself - wont waste my time here). So I make my way back past the masses of elderly, handicapped, rednecks, and children, and start walking toward Guam to my truck. Like a glutton for punishment, I call the other Walmart on the other side of town, ask them what they have in stock, and they are sold out as well. I actually then went to Target - found their TVs were in the same low price range, although their selection wasnt as huge, and got a nice Phillips LCD. But back to Walmart - my boycott is back on - I dont' care if they are selling TV's for $1 - I won't go back (ok if they really were selling for $1 I'd consider it).

Ovie card...

Thanks to Japers Rink for showing the new O-Pee-chee Ovechkin card...

What do you think about it? I feel that this complete non-likeness of Ovie looks similar to a half-morphed David Banner/Incredible Hulk after a night out.

Or he looks alot like this guy below (Mr. Larson from Happy Gilmore).... thoughts?

All NBA Women's Name Team

I think that the N.B.A. is the only professional sports league that has more atheletes with names that sound like, and to quote "my inner 2nd grader", " your name sounds like a GIRL!!". Anyway, heres my list. Feel free to comment away with anyone that I might've missed.

First. the Bench:

COURTNEY Lee - F - Orlando Magic

SHANNON Brown - G - Charlotte Bobcats

Ok now to the starters:

Point Guard - LINDSEY Hunter - Chicago Bulls

Wizards and the Draft Lottery...

Well for us Wizards fans out there (under the paper bag masks), now that this season is basically in the shitter, we can possibly start looking forward to the draft lottery. If the Wiz somehow manage to secure the NBA's worst record this year, and get the number one pick.. who do they choose? My thoughts.. if it's NOT Steph Curry... I'm done... done with the Wiz.. done with the NBA. I mean, yeah there are some quality bigs out there (Hasheem Thabeet, Blake Griffin, etc.) but none of which would energize this team and help put people back in the seats like Curry.

But what kind of team will the Wiz be next year? With Eddie Jordan gone, Ed Tapscott really hasnt put his mark on the team - unless continuing to lose is his kind of game... I mean really.. will this be a running team like in years past? Will there be trades? Will there actually be post play? intrigue, intrigue....

If Duke beat Maryland by 41, and Clemson beat Duke by 27... hmmm

In the "in case you missed it" department, Clemson shellacked #4Duke last night by 27 points at LittleJohn arena in Clemson. Maryland is set to visit Clemson coming up on 2/17.. prompting Greivis Vasques to shake under his bed saying "LittleJohn is definitely NOT my house".... poor little Greivis.... what a piece.

Pat Summitt and the Quest for 1,000

Tennessee coaching legend Pat Summitt is set to (hopefully) win her 1,000th career victory (she's sittin pretty currently at 999).... but here are my following thoughts and feelings on women's college basketball:
* I like spaghetti, I like ice cream, but I don't like spaghetti-ice cream.
* I love women, I love basketball....but I don't like women's basketball...
think that pretty much sums up my feelings right there....
but Kudos to Pat nonetheless.

As if there was any doubt...

"A federal judge on Wednesday unsealed hundreds of pages of court documents at the heart of the government's criminal case against Barry Bonds, including positive drug tests that prosecutors linked to the home run king." - AP report
aduh... really?

CP/Brennan Swim with the Fishes...

Redskins running back Clinton Portis, in town for the Pro-Bowl on Sunday, is going deep sea diving with former Hawaii Rainbow and current teammate Colt Brennan. Here's hopin for a good safe time...nyuk nyuk nyuk...

Parrish a bird again?

The Detroit Free Press is reporting that former Oriole John Parrish will most likely receive a minor-league invite to his former club. I personally am a big fan of Parrish, and with the way that the rotation is starting to pan out, he has as good a shot as anyone to earn a spot on the rotation, or at least be on the radar at Triple-A Norfolk.

Welcome....

First post on Theismanns Good Leg- talkin anything sports or whatever - hope you like it, and if you don't, then feel free to tell me about it.. comment away...
