Being a die-hard Skins fan, there are certain things that you get used to year after year. One thing you can count on, is the Skins ability to pickup whomever-the-fuck-they want during the initial hours after free-agency begins. Another thing you can count on, normally, is that the insane amount of money being doled out each year is to normally players at WR or LB or DB positions, to players that are somewhat past their prime (see also Bruce Smith or Deion Sanders), and are usually over-paid to immediately lock them up. Meanwhile the O-line and D-line is made up of a patchwork of players usually consisting of undrafted rookies and other teams cast-offs (hence the Skins look absolutely GREAT on Madden, but are terrible in the trenches, causing in reality to basically suck).
Here's why this years a tad different.
I mean sure the Skins came out and dropped almost 200 mil in contracts to Painsworth, Hall and Derrick Dockery, BUT they actually filled some needs for a change. The Skins are being dubbed as the New York Yankees of Football, but being a fan, I don't give a fuck (its not my money), and at least they attempt to bring in something. Obviously they arent smart enough to draft well (see also Vinny Cerratto aka dumbass), so they have to fill their needs the hard way.
Now what do I think of the Skins chances now that they've spent millions? I still dont like them as long as Jason Campbell is quarterback, and the best receiver is Santana. Although Dockery will help immensely on the O-line, unless they draft another lineman and some of their busted draft picks from last year (Devin Thomas, Malcom Kelly, Fred Davis) can do ANYTHING, the Skins would basically fall in the middle of the pack of the NFC East. Personally I love the Haynesworth signing, at least it was a Cowboy that he face-stomped in 2006.
