Its been awhile, sorry everyone for the delay, but my god some shits gone down in the last few months. Lets start at the top. The Redskins are a mess. Its not like any of us didnt see this coming. I mean, yeah we love to be the "offseason champs" every season, Haynesworth and Hall - Great additions, but seeing how our average at best QB of the future Jason Campbell was sitting on his ass most of last season play after play, dont you think they should've perhaps addressed the O-Line? Samuels - gone now for possibly the season/career, and once again injured Randy Thomas on the shelf, leaves Rabach and Dockery as the only starters left? Santana Moss, a great number 2 receiver, Randle El, a great number 3 option (see what I'm gettin at here? -- there's no legit number 1!!). Portis - past his prime, and Cooley - the offense's probably best overall option on offense - is being forced to stay in and block because there's no O-line...
Is all of this Zorn's fault? Probably not - all the recent draft picks are busts (as par usual in DC), and the team did nothing (outside of bringing back Derrick Dockery) to correct this offense. Zorn's unbridled honesty in post-loss press conferences, doesnt help his situation when he's explaining challenges, play calling, and the F-ing reasons he gives that the Skins seem to use up all of their time outs before the 4th quarter even starts! Greg Blache - Defensive coordinator has boycotted the media. (I mean the defense is the best part of this team - but this boycott is another part of the 3-ring circus in DC).
Ok - so whose at blame for this complete and utter mess? A lot of people say owner Dan Snyder... but how can you blame the guy that pays for all of the players to come in, with no football knowledge other than the fact he's owner and a lifelong skins fan. How bout blame the guy who's sole job is to manage the teams personnel.. Vinny Cerrato. What has this guy done right since being here. I mean, when Gibbs was here, the Skins took somewhat of a step back from lavish offseason spending, and looked more for solid character guys. Dan's always going to be aggressive in his pursuit of high profile free agents that fit the teams current needs, but the draft has been atrocious, and failure to address the teams obvious weaknesses this past offseason has to put the blame directly on Cerrato's head. Zorn has been a victim of circumstance... He was hired to be O-Coordinator (with no prior experience at play calling outside of college), and they decided to make him head coach. He's probably in way over his head, but its definitely not completely his fault. Personnel is the obvious first flaw, and secondly new coaching is needed at least to help right the ship until better personnel can be brought in.
Should we root for the Skins to continue to lose to winless teams each week so that the wrecking ball comes harder and faster? Either way, its a bad bad bad bad time to be a Skins fan. Break out the paper bags!
